How does it work? What do we do?

Participants are invited into a colourful seated circle of African djembe drums and hand held percussion.

Session usually begins with humurous rhythms and body percussion games as warm up and ice breaker.

Djembes are easy to play, with an authentic, earthy sound.

Drum fact:

Did you know that in Africa and in many other cultures around the world, before any major tribal decision is made, the community gathers together at the centre of the village to make music.

Delegates learn to rumble, play call-and-response patterns as well as interlocking rhythms which increases their awarenes and help to team-up to achieve these rhythms. They identify and applaud the different parts of themselves as an orchestra and soon recognise themselves to be an essential part of the band.

We end with a high-energy 'yebo' ('Yes to Life' in Zulu) celebration, bringing everything together in a bonding team performance.

Ideally, people will feel more confortable wearing loose clothing - try avoiding tight skirts!
